From time to time, events happen that shake “Crypto” to its core and make users contemplate the true meaning and value of decentralization. Cryptocurrency users throughout the world certainly seem to have lived through one such event just this week…

Many of you will recall on Wednesday when I shared news that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States dropped bombshell lawsuits against two major cryptocurrency exchanges, accusing them of, among other things, misleading users and investors and depriving them of government-mandated *protections*. The exchanges’ users have started heading for the hills, so to speak, and billions of dollars’ worth of Bitcoin have fled the two platforms in recent days.
