Dear Readers,
True decentralization is hard to come by. Almost all systems are too easy to attack or too easy to control, and so they can’t truly be thought of as decentralized. That reality is true of “Blockchain” and “Crypto” as well since all projects in the space have a core team or a central chokepoint that gives one group of participants power over everyone else on the protocol.
As we’ve learned, participants in this space have often been lured into projects by the idea that decentralization will revolutionize some mundane process or business model that has existed for decades or longer. In keeping with our recent theme of pulling back the curtain on pseudo-decentralization, today we’ll talk about another process that’s better off centralized: voting in elections.
