It seems that the topic of choice recently for sowing FUD in the Bitcoin space is around the role of developers. For example, a few weeks ago, we debunked an article that erroneously claimed that the entire future of Bitcoin’s software was dependent on the decisions of a handful of developers working on just one of Bitcoin’s many software implementations, Bitcoin Core. 

That sentiment, of course, is nonsense — the Bitcoin blockchain is a worldwide network of individuals who each have the sole ability to choose what version of the software they’ll run. Long story short, the Bitcoin blockchain is as decentralized as ever.

That said, Bitcoin’s ever-growing popularity, coupled with the fact that it strips much of traditional finance of its ill-gotten power, means that many critics feel motivated to go to great lengths to sow misunderstandings and doubts about how Bitcoin functions…
